Algeria to Ensure 70% Local Integration in School Tablet Production, Tebboune Directs

ALGIERS-The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired Sunday a meeting of the Council of Ministers, during which he directed the government to ensure that Algerian companies and startups achieve at least a 70% integration rate in the manufacturing of tablets intended for primary schools, according to a statement from the Council of Ministers.

Regarding the acquisition of tablets and accessories for primary schools, President Tebboune emphasized that “the adoption of such technological tools aims to reduce the weight of schoolbags and address pedagogical challenges associated with traditional teaching methods,” the statement noted.

In this context, President Tebboune instructed the government to “ensure a 70% integration rate for tablets designed for primary schools, with the involvement of experienced Algerian companies and startups,” the statement added.

“Generalizing the use of tablets in schools should provide an opportunity to support startups that have demonstrated expertise in this field, enabling them to establish a market presence and contribute to the country’s economic development,” President Tebboune affirmed.

Additionally, the Council of Ministers approved revisions to the special statutes and compensation schemes for administrators in the national education and higher education sectors, according to the same source.
