Algeria Plants Hope: Million-Tree Campaign Underway

Algerian Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, accompanied by the Minister of Youth in charge of the High Youth Council, Mustapha Hidaoui, launched on Saturday a nationwide campaign to plant one million trees.
Launched in the Wilaya of Tizi-Ouzou, the campaign — running under the slogan ‘Green, Allah Willing’ — spans all Algerian provinces.
The national reforestation campaign has sparked widespread enthusiasm among citizens and civil society organizations, with participants planting cork oak saplings — a valuable species known for its significant economic importance.
It is worth noting that all necessary conditions were put in place to ensure the success of this initiative, aimed at enhancing vegetation cover and promoting environmental awareness. The process began with selecting tree species suited to the climate of each region, ensuring their healthy growth and long-term sustainability.
