On Wednesday, Mourad Adjal, CEO of Algerian power company Sonelgaz, announced that the public utility is prepared to meet all energy demands of the Malaysian Lion Group, which plans to invest in Algeria, particularly in the manufacturing and metallurgy sectors.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Malaysian Lion Group led by its CEO, Tan Sri William Cheng, Adjal emphasized that “Sonelgaz, as a reliable operator in the energy sector (electricity and gas), is fully committed to implementing the recommendations of the country’s high authorities aimed at encouraging foreign investment in Algeria and fostering an environment conducive to such investments,” according to a statement from the public group.

“The Sonelgaz Group stands ready to fulfill all energy needs associated with the investments from the Malaysian Lion Group, ensuring the highest levels of supply reliability, sustainability, and service quality,” he stated.

He also underscored the importance of coordination between the technical teams of both groups, enabling the Algerian side to gather all necessary data to accurately assess the needs of the Malaysian investor. This collaboration aims to provide tailored solutions for the planned projects, including one that will be executed in partnership with the Algerian industrial group Sider.

The meeting was attended by the Malaysian Ambassador to Algeria, Rizany Irwan Muhamad Mazlan, who expressed his government’s interest in investing in Algeria through significant partnerships with economic operators like the Sonelgaz Group, as noted in the statement.
