Algeria-Belarus: Exploring Ways to Strengthen Industrial Cooperation

ALGIERS, Oct. 23, 2025 – Algeria’s Minister of Industry, Yahia Bachir, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maksim Ryzhenkov, to discuss ways to enhance industrial cooperation between the two countries and open new avenues for joint investment, the ministry said Thursday in a statement.

The Belarusian foreign minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation including the vice-ministers of Industry and Health, the statement added.

During the meeting, held Wednesday at the ministry headquarters in the presence of the Belarusian ambassador to Algeria, Bachir highlighted “the strength of relations between Algeria and Belarus” and emphasized “the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation and translating it into concrete industrial projects,” according to the statement.

Within this framework, the minister called for the implementation of joint industrial projects, particularly in mechanical industries and agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as cooperation in accreditation and standardization, aiming to develop productive partnerships and strengthen technology transfer.

Bachir reiterated the Ministry of Industry’s commitment to supporting bilateral cooperation and ensuring the proper conditions for the success of industrial and technological partnerships, stressing “the need to accelerate coordination between relevant institutions in both countries.”

The minister issued “instructions to establish joint working groups responsible for identifying priority areas of cooperation and ensuring the follow-up of project implementation on the ground,” the statement noted.

For his part, the Belarusian foreign minister welcomed the depth of relations between the two countries, noting that “Belarus is ready to establish direct partnerships with Algerian companies in the manufacturing of machinery and agricultural equipment, and to strengthen industrial and technical cooperation in areas of common interest.”

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the Algerian Accreditation Body (ALGERAC) and its Belarusian counterpart, through a memorandum of understanding providing for mutual accreditation mechanisms of industrial standards and measures, which “will help facilitate trade, strengthen the competitiveness of national products, and support Algerian exports to foreign markets.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed “their shared determination to continue coordination and deepen industrial and technical cooperation between Algeria and Belarus, within the framework of the new momentum initiated thanks to the political will of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, with a view to building sustainable strategic partnerships capable of contributing to industrial development and enhancing economic exchanges between the two friendly countries,” the statement said.
