Lee Jae-myung Sworn In as South Korea’s New President After Snap Election Victory

SEOUL — Lee Jae-myung was officially sworn in as South Korea’s 14th president on Wednesday, following his historic victory in snap elections triggered by the ouster of former President Yoon Suk Yeol over a failed martial law attempt.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the National Assembly in Seoul, where Lee took the oath of office before lawmakers and dignitaries, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Lee, representing the opposition Democratic Party, won the presidency with over 49% of the vote—securing more than 17 million ballots cast. His rival, Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party, trailed with 41.15%, marking a decisive shift in the country’s political leadership.
