In a significant step affirming international solidarity with just causes, the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) has elected the Sahrawi Youth Union of Saguia el-Hamra and Rio de Oro (UJSARIO) as a member of the World Communist Youth Council during the World Communist Youth Conference.
This election follows a year of sustained diplomatic engagement by UJSARIO, which actively raised global awareness of the Sahrawi people’s plight and mobilized solidarity for youth living under Moroccan occupation. Their campaign highlighted the daily struggles faced by Sahrawi youth and underscored the need for international action in support of self-determination.
Welcoming the decision, UJSARIO described the move as a diplomatic victory and a recognition of their efforts to advance the Sahrawi cause on the world stage. The Union reaffirmed its resolve to work alongside international partners to help eradicate the last vestiges of colonialism in Africa.
