Albania: Major Victory for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s Camp

The Socialist Party, under the leadership of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, secured more than 52% of the votes in Sunday’s legislative elections, according to official results released by the Central Election Commission at midnight on Tuesday.
This victory marks an unprecedented fourth term for Edi Rama as the head of the country. The Socialist Party received 52.16% of the vote, significantly surpassing the “Greater Albania” coalition led by his longtime rival, Sali Berisha, based on results from all polling stations across Albania. While votes from the diaspora have not yet been counted, preliminary indications suggest that Rama is also leading among Albanians living abroad.
