WSIS Prizes 2025: Three Algerian Projects Qualify for the Pre-Final Phase

The Algerian Ministry of Post and Telecommunications announced on Wednesday that three Algerian projects in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) have advanced to the pre-final phase of the World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2025 (WSIS Forum 2025).

These selected projects, organized annually by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), “showcase Algerian innovation and demonstrate the capabilities of our youth and institutions in the digital sphere,” the ministry stated.

On this occasion, the ministry called for support for these initiatives, encouraging the public to vote and motivate others to participate actively before the deadline set for April 30 at 10:00 PM. Voting can be done through the official competition platform: https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/Prizes/2025, as noted by the same source.

In this context, the ministry detailed that the first project, developed by civil society, falls under the category “Enhancing Trust and Security in the Use of ICT” and is titled “A New Cryptographic Algorithm.”

The second project, listed in the category “ICT Applications – Electronic Environment,” has been created by the Scientific and Technical Research Center on Arid Regions (CRSTRA) and is titled ” “Contribution to the fight against the drawdown of groundwater in the

Algerian arid Regions by geophysics, GIS and ICT.”

The third project, developed by Algérie Telecom, competes in the category “Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society” and is titled “Autism Intelligent Teaching Assistant,” the statement concluded.
