Fire Following Pipeline Leak in Malaysia: Over 100 Injured

A gas pipeline leak in Malaysia ignited a massive blaze on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to more than a hundred individuals, according to authorities.
Firefighters from Selangor state reported in a press release that “a leak from a gas pipeline extending approximately 500 meters caused flames to reach significant heights.”
More than 100 people sustained injuries; however, no fatalities have been reported. The firefighters also noted that 50 homes were impacted by the fire.
The affected infrastructure is owned by the state-run company Petronas, which confirmed that gas supply to the facility has been shut off.
“We heard a loud explosion, followed by total chaos,” recounted a resident living 200 meters from the epicenter, as quoted by the daily newspaper The Star. “We immediately evacuated our house and saw other residents fleeing as well.”
Videos shared online reveal flames shooting into the sky, seemingly the result of an explosion. Other footage showcases a residential area shrouded in smoke as a fire rages in the background.
