Algeria’s Sonelgaz and Malaysian Energy Firms Eye Partnership Prospects

ALGIERS, February 13, 2025 – Mourad Adjal, the CEO of Sonelgaz, Algerian power company, met with Malaysia’s Ambassador to Algeria, Rizany Irwan Muhamad Mazlan, on Thursday in Algiers. They agreed to arrange meetings with Malaysian companies to explore potential partnership opportunities, as stated by the public group.
This meeting, which included several senior executives from Sonelgaz, is part of the company’s initiative to promote and expand its foreign partnerships, according to the statement.
During the discussion, Adjal highlighted the group’s human, material, and technical capabilities. The meeting also served as an opportunity to present the organization’s functions, structure, human capital, training programs, manufacturing policies, and strategies for localizing services.
The Malaysian ambassador conveyed the interest of Malaysian energy companies in forming “serious partnerships” with Sonelgaz, particularly in areas such as expertise exchange, training, and the development of green hydrogen.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to schedule bilateral meetings between Sonelgaz, energy companies, and Malaysian economic investors to explore opportunities for fostering partnerships between the two countries.
