Montenegro: Gunman Dies After Shooting Himself in the Head

The armed man responsible for the deaths of at least 12 individuals, including two children, during a shooting in southern Montenegro on Wednesday has died after turning the gun on himself, according to police reports.
The authorities had surrounded the fleeing shooter, and when they ordered him to “drop his weapon,” he shot himself in the head, Police Chief Lazar Scepanovic informed reporters.
“We made efforts to transport him to a medical facility, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries,” he added.
Among those killed by the gunman in a restaurant located in a village in southern Montenegro were the establishment’s owner and several members of his family, as reported by the Interior Minister.
Initial assessments from government officials and law enforcement indicate that the incident stemmed from a brawl that escalated, with the suspect also having shot some of his own family members. The minister characterized the event as a “private” matter.
