His comments were shared on Truth Social, where he also joked about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau being the “governor” of the “Great State of Canada.”
Trump’s remarks come amid tensions over trade, as he announced plans to impose a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico upon taking office, citing unresolved issues related to illegal immigration and drug trafficking. In response, Prime Minister Trudeau warned of retaliatory measures if the tariffs were imposed, indicating a growing trade dispute between the two nations.
