Growing Public Rejection of Morocco-Zionist Entity Normalization

As Morocco marks the fifth year of normalization with the Zionist entity, rights groups emphasize that the agreement lacks “popular legitimacy.” Despite state-led efforts to expand normalization, public opposition remains firm through protests and anti-normalization campaigns.

Ahmad Wihman, head of the Moroccan Observatory Against Normalization, described the agreement as a “resounding failure,” asserting that Moroccans reject ties with “war criminals.” Saeed Moulay Al-Taj, from the Moroccan Organization for the Advocacy of Nation’s Causes, echoed these views, urging the government to reconsider its stance, particularly after the aggression on Gaza.

This year, the absence of official celebrations for the normalization anniversary reflects mounting public pressure, despite economic and security agreements with Zionist firms. Activists warn these deals threaten Morocco’s sovereignty and stability. Calls to cancel normalization persist as resistance grows stronger, framing it as a betrayal of Morocco’s historical support for Palestine.
