Storm “Bora” Devastates Rhodes and Lemnos in Greece

Greece was hit by the powerful storm “Bora” earlier this week, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. On Monday, the island of Rhodes, a popular tourist destination, was inundated with mud and debris. Floodwaters destroyed a bridge, created sinkholes, and caused significant damage to coastal homes and shops. Another bridge collapsed in the village of Tsairi.
The Greek Fire Department reported that strong water currents also affected the island of Lemnos in the northern Aegean Sea. In response, 35 firefighters with water removal equipment and rescue boats were dispatched from Athens. An additional 40 firefighters and 10 vehicles were transported by sea from Piraeus to support relief efforts.
Both Rhodes and Lemnos have declared a state of emergency as authorities work to manage the aftermath of the storm. The focus now shifts to recovery and ensuring the safety of residents as weather conditions stabilize.
