Putin Apologizes to Merkel Over Dog Incident, Denies Intentional “Scare”

In a recent statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed regret for an incident during a 2007 meeting with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Referring to his dog, a Labrador, who unexpectedly entered the meeting room, Putin clarified that he was unaware of Merkel’s fear of dogs.

The apology came after Merkel suggested that Putin had deliberately “scared” her by bringing the dog into the room. Putin emphasized that he never intended to cause any distress and reassured Merkel that such an incident would not occur again if she visited his residence in the future.
