ALGIERS – The Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui received on Sunday Alejandro Alvarez, the UN Resident Coordinator in Algeria, who paid him a farewell visit at the end of his mission, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
The two sides discussed “the current regional and international situation and the new global challenges facing multilateral action in a complex, changing, and highly tense international environment,” emphasising “the importance of strengthening international efforts to address development issues in many countries, particularly in Africa, and helping them overcome crises by supporting their efforts to strengthen the foundations of stability and development,” the statement read.
They also reviewed “the various aspects of cooperation between Algeria and the specialised UN agencies, within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for the period 2023-2027, underscoring the importance of closely monitoring these programs and accelerating their implementation.
“The UN Ambassador praised the level of cooperation with Algeria, recalling the fruitful meetings held by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune with the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres,” the source concluded.
