2024 African Women’s Handball Championship: Algeria Drawn into Group A

The draw for the 2024 African Women’s Handball Championship took place last night in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, placing the Algerian national team in Group A alongside Egypt, Congo, Senegal, Cape Verde, and Kenya.

Group B includes the host nation, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as Angola, Cameroon, Guinea, Uganda, and Tunisia.

It is important to note that Kinshasa will host the Women’s African Championship from November 27 to December 7, 2024.

The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals of this continental competition, which also serves as a qualifier for the upcoming World Championship scheduled to be held in Germany and the Netherlands.

In the previous edition held in Dakar in 2022, the title was secured by the Angolan team, which defeated Senegal 24-21 in the final, marking Angola’s fifteenth championship victory in the tournament’s history.
