Jerusalem: Zionists Demolished 320 Homes Since October 2023

The office of the Jerusalem governorate reported that the occupying Zionist authorities have executed 320 demolitions targeting Palestinian homes and structures in the occupied holy city since October 7, 2023.

In its report, the governorate’s office specified that “of the 320 demolitions, over 87 occurred in the town of Silwan, located south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.” A representative from the governorate’s office, cited by the Palestinian news agency (WAFA), stated: “Each demolition leads to the destruction of multiple homes and commercial establishments, resulting in the displacement and loss of income for thousands of residents.”

The same source emphasized that “more than 30,000 properties in Jerusalem remain at risk of demolition, which could displace and economically impact around 100,000 Palestinian residents.”

Silwan, in particular, faces systematic violations, especially in the neighborhoods of Al-Bustan, Wadi Al-Rababa, and Wadi Qaddoum, due to their proximity to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to the source.

The report highlighted that these demolitions are not confined to specific areas of Jerusalem but also extend to the towns of Hizma, Anata, and Al-Ram, as part of colonial projects aimed at expanding illegal settlements within and around Jerusalem.

All settlements in the occupied West Bank, including those situated in East Jerusalem and its vicinity, are considered illegal under international law, as well as the Fourth Geneva Convention and various United Nations resolutions and Security Council decisions.
