Morocco: Protests Erupt in Marrakech Against Visit of Zionist Soldier Involved in the War on Gaza

The city of Marrakech, Morocco, witnessed a wave of angry protests in response to the visit of a Zionist soldier who participated in the war on Gaza. Demonstrators condemned the Moroccan authorities for permitting a “war criminal” into the country and demanded his arrest and prosecution.

The protest, organized by the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization on Monday, saw participants waving keffiyehs and Palestinian flags while chanting slogans against the entry of the Zionist “war criminal” and his companions into their city. They called for the annulment of normalization agreements with Israel and the cessation of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which has continued for nine consecutive months.

Jamal Bahar, Deputy Coordinator of the Local Secretariat of the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization in Marrakech, stated that “the protest was prompted by the Front’s discovery of the soldier’s presence in Marrakech through his social media posts, where he boasted about his crimes against children and women in Gaza, a region suffering from genocide at the hands of the occupying entity.”

He expressed his disbelief, saying, “Is it conceivable for this Zionist soldier, who presents himself as an artist by playing his instrument in Marrakech’s tourist spots, to combine killing and art?” He urged the Moroccan authorities to detain and prosecute him, emphasizing that “he committed acts of genocide in Gaza and glorified them, knowing that international laws hold such criminals accountable.”

In related news, Bahar revealed ongoing consultations between the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization and the Coordinating Committee of Lawyers for Palestine aimed at filing an official lawsuit against the Zionist soldier to bring him to justice in Moroccan courts.

The Zionist soldier, whose visit has sparked controversy in Morocco, had posted images on Instagram showing himself with a Zionist military unit in Gaza, proudly displaying scenes of destruction alongside commemorative photos taken at bombing sites in the besieged territory.

This development comes amid increasing calls for the termination of Moroccan-Zionist normalization to protect the country from the perceived negative impacts caused by Zionists, who have purportedly infiltrated various state sectors. There is widespread public rejection of the “shame” agreements that have tarnished the image of the kingdom.
