US Open: Sabalenka Dominates Pegula to Win First Title in New York

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, captured her first US Open tennis title by defeating American Jessica Pegula with a score of 7-5, 7-5 in the final held in New York on Saturday.

At 26 years old, Sabalenka, who was defeated by Coco Gauff in last year’s final, has now secured her third Grand Slam title, adding to her previous victories at the Australian Open in January 2023 and 2024.

With this triumph, she becomes the first player to win both hard court majors in the same season since Germany’s Angelique Kerber achieved this feat in 2016.
