UNICEF appeals for $105 million aid to assist families and children in Lebanon

UNICEF urged the international community on Tuesday to provide $105 million to support families and children in Lebanon in a bid to mitigate their deteriorating situation and meet some of their increasing needs amid escalating violence.
In a statement published by the Lebanese National News Agency, the organisation warned that “needs are rising at an alarming rate in Lebanon,” urgently appealing for increased humanitarian support and ensuring that roads remain open for delivering aid, allowing essential supplies to reach the most vulnerable children quickly and safely.
UNICEF emphasised the critical need for these funds to deliver vital supplies for children and to maintain essential services in Lebanon, including access to safe drinking water, psychological and social support, education, and preparedness for any potential escalation in hostilities.
The organisation estimates that over 300,000 children have been displaced from their homes and are suffering from insufficient access to water, food, medical supplies, and other essentials.
“Countless children remain in great danger, exposed to ongoing attacks, forced displacement, and unable to rely on an overstretched and undersourced healthcare system,” said UNICEF Representative in Lebanon Edouard Beigbeder.
