Tunisian National Football Team: Amicable Separation with Coach Benzarti (FTF)

The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) announced on Tuesday that it has amicably terminated the contract of Faouzi Benzarti, head coach of the “Eagles of Carthage,” as stated in a release on its official website.
Benzarti, 74, was appointed to lead the Tunisian national team last June, succeeding fellow countryman Montasser Louhichi. The veteran coach has previously held the position on three occasions: as interim coach in March 1994, from November 2009 to June 2010, and again from July to October 2018.
Tunisia failed to achieve a victory against Comoros, ranked 118th in the latest FIFA standings, during the third and fourth rounds of qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN-2025). The Tunisian team experienced a surprising home defeat in the third round (1-0) before drawing the next match (1-1) at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
Currently, Tunisia leads Group A with 7 points, just one point ahead of Comoros, which has 6 points. Gambia is in third place with 5 points, while Madagascar sits at the bottom with 2 points. The top two teams from the group will qualify for the final stage.
