Tehran Threatens to Target US Bases if Conflict Erupts with Washington

Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh warned on Wednesday that Iran would strike U.S. military bases in the region if nuclear talks with the United States collapse and a conflict erupts.

Speaking at a press conference, Nasirzadeh stated, “Some officials on the other side are threatening military action if the talks fail. If conflict is forced upon us, all American bases within our reach will be targeted with force, even in host countries.”

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iran if a new nuclear agreement is not reached.

The next round of talks is expected soon. Trump said on Tuesday that the negotiations would resume on Thursday, while Tehran stated they would take place on Sunday in Oman.

Iran is expected to present a counterproposal to a previous U.S. offer, which it had rejected. Trump also remarked yesterday that Iran has become “more aggressive” in the nuclear discussions.
