Sudanese Doctors Accuse RSF of Ethnic Killings and Looting Hospitals in El-Fasher

Sudanese doctors have accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of killing civilians based on their ethnicity and plundering health facilities in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, western Sudan. In a statement released Monday, the Sudan Doctors Network described the attack as a “heinous massacre” that adds to the RSF’s “widespread crimes” across El-Fasher and the greater Darfur region.
“The RSF killed unarmed civilians on ethnic grounds in what amounts to an act of ethnic cleansing,” the group said in a statement posted on the social media platform X. Field teams reported that dozens of people were killed on Sunday, although access to affected areas remains limited due to “the complete security collapse caused by the RSF.”
El-Fasher has seen fierce fighting for weeks between the RSF and the Sudanese army, with heavy clashes erupting again on Sunday, according to the civilian-led El-Fasher Resistance Committees. The RSF has besieged the city since May 10, 2024, surrounding it from five directions in an attempt to seize this strategic stronghold, which serves as the humanitarian operations center for all five Darfur states.
