Somalia Announces Political, Legal, and Diplomatic Steps to Safeguard Its Sovereignty

Somalia has announced the adoption of political, legal, and diplomatic measures aimed at safeguarding its sovereignty and reinforcing the principle of a unified state.
In a statement reported by the Somali News Agency on Thursday, the Somali presidency said that the responsible stance taken by regional and international countries and organizations in support of Somalia’s sovereignty and unity contributed to thwarting attempts by the Zionist entity to secure recognition of the so-called “Somaliland” administration.
The statement noted that this responsible international position reflects a commitment to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, particularly respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in internal affairs.
Mogadishu stressed that any attempts to undermine Somalia’s unity or engage with secessionist entities outside the framework of the state constitute a clear violation of international law and pose a threat to regional stability, reaffirming its categorical rejection of any such steps.
The Somali government also renewed its commitment to continue working with its regional and international partners to enhance security and stability in the Horn of Africa and to promote peaceful solutions that preserve Somalia’s unity and meet the aspirations of its people for peace and development.
The statement came after the so-called “Prime Minister” of the Zionist entity, Benjamin Netanyahu, recently announced recognition of “Somaliland” as an independent and sovereign state, a move that was met with widespread international condemnation.
