SEMICA 2026: Algeria’s Pioneering Experience in Hydrocarbons, Training Presented

The Algerian Group for Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products and Natural Gas “Naftal” and the Algerian Petroleum Institute participated, on Wednesday, in N’Djamena (Chad), in a specialized working session during which Algeria’s pioneering experience in the fields of hydrocarbons and training was presented, according to a ministry statement.

The CEO of Naftal company, Djamel Cherdoud, and the Director General of the Algerian Petroleum Institute, Mohamed Khodja, participated, on the sidelines of the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries and Hydrocarbons “SEMICA Chad 2026,” in a specialized working session on “The Algerian Success Model and the Major Challenges of Chadian Extractive Industries,” which constituted a space for exchanging visions and expertise on ways to develop the extractive industries sector in the African continent.

Participants examined Algeria’s leading experience in hydrocarbons and training, stressing the importance of good governance, capacity building, knowledge localization, and technology transfer as key drivers of sustainable development and genuine value creation.

Joining Cherdoud and Khodja at the session were the Acting Director General of N’Djamena Refining Company (NRC), Mahamat Gueillet Hemchi, the Director General of Chad’s Petroleum Sector Regulatory Authority (ARSAT), Hassan Adoum Younousmi, and the Director General of Chadian Petroleum Company, Alladom Désiré Nando Gongar.

The Algerian representatives highlighted the central role of national institutions, especially Naftal and the Algerian Petroleum Institute, in advancing the hydrocarbon sector’s value chain, enhancing training and skills development, and fostering mutually beneficial African partnerships, said the statement.

This participation reflects Algeria’s distinguished presence at the “SEMICA Chad 2026” exhibition, whose works opened with high-level official attendance, led by the representative of the President of the Republic, Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, confirming Algeria’s commitment, in its capacity as guest of honor, to supporting African cooperation and strengthening South-South partnership, and sharing its expertise with brotherly African countries, particularly in the fields of exploration, production, transformation, and training.

This special session embodies Algeria’s commitment to contributing effectively to strategic discussions related to the future of extractive industries in Africa, and support efforts aimed at building a strong, integrated and sustainable continental economy, according to the same source.
