OIC Welcomes UN Report Confirming Zionist Genocide in Gaza, Urges Immediate Action
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the report issued by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which confirmed that the Zionist entity, as the occupying power, has committed the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The OIC called on the international community to take urgent steps to end this genocide and hold those responsible accountable.
In its statement, the OIC strongly condemned the escalation of crimes by Zionist occupation forces, particularly the ground invasion of Gaza City, alongside the ongoing starvation, abuse, destruction, and forced displacement of its population. The organization said these acts amount to a continuation of the crime of genocide and warned that their persistence will have dire and catastrophic repercussions for the situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory.
The OIC further reiterated its call on the UN Security Council to take decisive measures, including the imposition of an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, ending the Zionist entity’s policy of starvation and blockade, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of Gaza, and preventing further acts of genocide. It also urged the Council to implement the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2024 regarding the protection of the Palestinian people.
