Minister Ahmed Attaf holds phone talk with Indian FM

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received a phone call on Tuesday from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the relations between their countries, in light of the outcomes of the state visit by the President of India to Algeria in October 2024. They also addressed preparations for upcoming bilateral events, particularly the meeting of the Algerian-Indian Joint Governmental Committee, the statement said.

On this occasion, Minister Ahmed Attaf reiterated Algeria’s position, recently expressed at the United Nations Security Council, condemning in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that targeted the city of Pahalgam, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties, both dead and injured. The Algerian minister also extended his heartfelt condolences to his Indian counterpart and to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

In the same context, the Algerian Minister of State emphasized the importance of maintaining the foundations of security and stability in the region, through adherence to the values of dialogue, restraint, and the pursuit of peaceful means to resolve disputes, regardless of their difficulty or complexity, the statement added.
