Medvedev Warns No-Fly Zone Over Ukraine Would Spark NATO-Russia War

The establishment of a no-fly zone over Ukraine would mean the direct outbreak of war between Russia and NATO, Deputy Head of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned on Monday.
Writing on Telegram, Medvedev mocked NATO’s new initiative “Eastern Sentry,” designed to shield allies on the eastern flank after Russian drone incursions into Poland last week. “The implementation of the provocative idea of creating a ‘no-fly zone over Ukraine’ and allowing NATO countries to shoot down our UAVs will mean only one thing – a war between NATO and Russia,” he stressed. Medvedev also lashed out at proposals to use frozen Russian assets to bolster Ukraine, vowing Moscow would pursue EU states “until the end of time” in courts and, in some cases, outside them.
His remarks came shortly after NATO announced that its Allied Command Operations would launch “Eastern Sentry” to strengthen defenses in response to recent airspace violations. Ukraine has renewed calls for a no-fly zone following the September 10 drone incident in Poland, with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski backing the idea. Moscow, however, maintains its strikes targeted military-industrial sites in western Ukraine and not Polish territory.
