Lavrov Announces a New Round of high-Level Talks Between Russia and Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that a new round of high-level talks between Russia and Syria is scheduled for next week, following a recent Russian delegation visit to Damascus. In a broader diplomatic push, Lavrov revealed plans to expand Russia’s presence in Africa by opening seven new embassies by 2026 in Gambia, Liberia, the Comoros, Niger, Sierra Leone, Togo, and South Sudan. This move signals Moscow’s continued efforts to increase its geopolitical influence, both in the Middle East and across the African continent.
