Kim Jong Un Pledges Unwavering Support for Russia’s Leadership in Call with Putin

Pyongyang – The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will “always remain faithful to the spirit of the DPRK-Russia treaty,” North Korean leader Kim Jong Un assured Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The two leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, praising the growing cooperation under the DPRK-Russia Strategic Partnership Agreement and reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.
Kim expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Putin for warmly congratulating the North Korean people on the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, which will be marked on August 15. He noted that the Korean people will honor the Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Korea’s freedom, paying deep respect to the heroism of the Red Army’s officers and soldiers 80 years ago as a lasting example of true internationalism.
Putin, in turn, voiced appreciation for North Korea’s steadfast support, commending the courage and self-sacrifice of the Korean People’s Army in liberating Russia’s Kursk region from Ukrainian attacks. Both leaders hailed the expansion of cooperation across all sectors and pledged to further enhance their collaboration in the future.
