Fourth Round of Nuclear Talks Between Iran and U.S. Set for Saturday in Rome

A fourth round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States is scheduled to take place on Saturday in Rome, Italy, continuing under the mediation of Oman, announced Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday.
“The next round of negotiations will be held in Rome,” Araghchi stated following a cabinet meeting, as reported by various media outlets. He added that “the day before, on Friday, we will also hold a meeting with three European countries.”
The two nations initiated discussions on April 12, facilitated by Oman, and exchanged views again on April 19 and April 26. The second round of talks took place in Rome, while previous sessions were held in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
These discussions represent the first of their kind since the United States withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) in 2018 during Donald Trump’s presidency. This agreement, established in 2015, aimed to regulate Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.
This accord, which expires in October—ten years after its implementation—involves France, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, and Russia.
