Ex-South Korean Defense Minister Attempts Suicide

Former South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who is under arrest following last week’s attempted imposition of martial law, reportedly attempted suicide, according to Shin Yong-hae, head of the correctional center where Kim is detained.
Shin informed the South Korean Parliament on Wednesday that Kim’s suicide attempt occurred in a restroom at the detention center. A vigilant guard noticed the incident and intervened swiftly, preventing the attempt.
The correctional center’s staff confirmed that Kim is now under heightened supervision and that his health remains stable, with no immediate concerns reported.
