Donald Trump and Kamala Harris to face off in decisive debate
VP Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are due to hold their first debate on Tuesday, eight weeks before the election day.

The US presidential elections have so far seen a rollercoaster of events, starting with President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race and placing his Vice President Kamala Harris at the forefront of the Democratic Party to face off against the Republican rival and former president Donald Trump, who survived an attempt on his life. Now, both candidates named their running mates and accepted their parties’ nomination.
ABC News is hosting the debate, under the moderation of David Muir and Linsey Davis, at the National Constitution Center, a private non-profit education centre and museum dedicated to the study of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia.
According to an Associated Press analysis on the two contenders’ potential performances, Donald Trump is deemed a seasoned debater known for his strategy of unsettling opponents through interruptions and insults, based on his 2016 debates with Hillary Clinton.
Conversely, Kamala Harris has demonstrated in her early California campaigns as President Joe Biden’s running mate a strategic approach to debates, combining both aggressiveness and caution in crafting her arguments given her background as a veteran prosecutor.
Accordingly, a heated debate is expected on Tuesday. There will be neither audience nor opening statements. Both candidates will have two minutes for answers, two minutes for rebuttals, and one minute for follow-ups.
