A deadly terrorist attack took place on Wednesday at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) headquarters in Kahramankazan, near Ankara, according to Turkish authorities. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the tragic incident, stating, “A terrorist attack was carried out against the TUSAS facilities. Unfortunately, we have martyrs and injured people.”
Media reports revealed that a loud explosion was heard at the site, followed by a gunfight, although the exact cause of the explosion and the subsequent gunfire remains unclear. Some reports suggest the possibility of a suicide attack. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, as reported by the state-owned Anadolu Agency.
Television footage displayed a damaged gate and scenes of clashes near a parking lot adjacent to the facility. TUSAS, a crucial player in Turkiye’s defense and aviation industry, is known for producing the country’s first national combat aircraft, KAAN, among other major defense projects.
