
ALGIERS- Stellantis El Djazair signed Wednesday four new letters of intent for partnership with Algerian subcontractors for the supply of automotive parts and components to its Fiat plant in Tafraoui, Oran, the group said in a statement.
The agreements, in the form of letters of intent, have been signed on the occasion of the second international convention of suppliers to support and accelerate growth in the automotive industry in Algeria, held by the manufacturer on May 20-21 in Oran (432-km west of Algiers).
They were signed in the presence of the operations manager of Stellantis Middle East and Africa, Samir Cherfan, the wali (governor) of Oran, Samir Chibani, Italy’s ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, and the director general of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion, Omar Rekkache, the statement said.
The agreements concern Martur subcontractors for the manufacturing of car seats, Purem for the production of exhaust systems, Silverton for the supply of car speakers and subcontractor Sigit-ACS to produce plastic parts, according to the statement.
It added that Stellantis will have now 12 local subcontractor suppliers of car parts and components for the plant of FIAT in Tafraoui.
The car manufacturer said it “intends to promote the emergence of a local supplier network to eventually cover more than 30% of parts and accessories for the cars manufactured in Tafraoui, and establish the first integrated automotive ecosystem in Algeria.”
The second international convention of suppliers brought together more than 200 participants, including over 75 car industry firms, domestic and international suppliers.
