Walid Sadi, president of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), officially declared his candidacy for the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday. The elections are set to take place in March 2025 in Cairo, Egypt, as stated in a communiqué from the federation.
“The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announces that President Walid Sadi has formally submitted his candidacy for election to the Executive Committee of the African Football Confederation (CAF), scheduled for March 2025 in Cairo, Egypt,” read the FAF statement.
Sadi currently holds the position of vice-president of the North African Football Union (UNAF) and chairs the Competitions Commission for 2024. He is vying for the second seat representing the North zone (UNAF).
It is important to note that the elections for the presidency of the CAF and its executive committee will also take place next March. The incumbent president, South Africa’s Patrice Motsepe, is the only candidate running for re-election.
