Barack Obama Endorses Kamala Harris for 2024 Presidential Run

Former President Barack Obama has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 US presidential election, ensuring she now has the backing of all prominent figures within the party.
Obama had notably withheld his endorsement immediately following Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the campaign. Initially, he was believed to support an open nominating contest at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month.
In a filmed phone call released by Harris’s campaign on Friday, the 44th president, alongside former First Lady Michelle Obama, shared their endorsement with Harris, who is seen listening intently on her iPhone.
This endorsement comes as the Harris campaign, which has already gained significant momentum, launches a “weekend of action.” This initiative marks 100 days until the election and involves more than 170,000 volunteers and 2,300 events across key battleground states.
Harris has closed the gap with Trump in recent opinion polls, trailing him 48% to 47% among likely voters, according to a New York Times/Siena College survey. Previously, Trump held a six-point lead over Biden in this poll following their debate.
