Australia Pledges $20 Million in New Gaza Aid Following Massive Sydney Protest

SYDNEY – Australia has announced an additional $20 million in humanitarian aid for Gaza, responding to mounting public pressure and a massive pro-Palestinian demonstration in Sydney that called for increased support for Palestinians and sanctions on the Zionist entity.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs stated that the new aid package will support food distribution, medical supplies for field hospitals, and other vital assistance—particularly for women and children affected by the war.

According to government data, this brings Australia’s total humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza and Lebanon to over $130 million since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023.

“The suffering and starvation of civilians must end,” said Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong. “Australia will continue to work with the international community to seek an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and a two-state solution.”

Wong also urged the Zionist entity to allow “immediate and unrestricted access” for humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The aid announcement came just hours after tens of thousands of protesters marched across Sydney’s Harbour Bridge, demanding a ceasefire and unfettered delivery of aid to Gaza.
