ALGIERS – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered on Saturday the removal of all outdated passenger transport buses that have been in service for over 30 years from the national fleet, setting a deadline of no more than six months.
The Algerian Ministry of Transport announced the decision issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, stating that a six-month deadline has been given to owners of worn-out buses to replace them with new ones.
The Ministry of Transport affirmed its commitment to providing all necessary facilities to support the replacement of old buses, ensuring a smooth and uncomplicated process while respecting the set deadlines.
The decision follows the tragic incident that took place yesterday in Oued El Harrach (El Harrach river), Algiers, where a passenger bus fell, resulting in the deaths of 18 citizens.
