Algerian Para-Judo Athletes Win Bronze at IBSA Grand Prix-Giza in Egypt

ALGIERS- Athletes of the National Algerian Para-Judo team (category of visually impaired), Ishak Ouldkouider, and Abderrahmane Chetouane, have both snatched bronze medals as part of the 2025 IBSA Judo Grand Prix which wrapped up Tuesday in Giza, Egypt.
In addition to Chetouane and Ouldkouider, Algeria was represented by athletes Ishak Korichi, Nabil Sinacer, and Abdelkader Bouamer, all from the (J1 class and the -70 kg category).
Competing in the -95 kg category (J1 class), Abderrahmane Chetouane did not start his tournament well. Exempted from the round of 16, he faced Uzbek Mukhammad Abdukulov in the quarterfinals, against whom he lost in the golden score despite dominating the match with 1 minute 30 seconds remaining.
However, he brilliantly won two successive fights against Indonesian Fajar Pambudi and then Swedish Oscar Widegren, both defeated by immobilization. The other bronze medal in the category was won, to everyone’s surprise, by Egyptian Mahmoud Abdelghaffar.
The gold medal went to Brazilian Cavalcante Da Silva, who defeated British Daniel Powell in the final.
In the -70 kg category (J2 class), Ishak Ouldkouider also won a bronze medal.
Exempted from the round of 16, he defeated Italian Dura Federico Giuseppe by ippon in the quarterfinals before losing to Uzbek Kemran Nurillaev, who then won gold by forfeit against his compatriot Sherzod Namozov.
