
ALGIERS – Fifty-one (51) terrorists and 457 terrorist supporters were neutralized during 2024 by the detachments of the Algerian People’s National Army (PNA) which also recovered significant quantities of weapons and ammunition, the Algerian People’s National Army said Saturday in an operational report.
“As part of the ongoing counterterrorism efforts against the multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of the People’s National Army carried out in 2024, several operations that led to qualitative results reflecting the high professionalism, vigilance and permanent readiness of our Armed Forces across the entire national territory, with the aim of countering all attempts to undermine the security and stability of our country, as well as its sovereignty,” said the same source.
As part of counter-terrorism operations, “our Armed Forces proceeded with the neutralization of 51 terrorists, 457 terrorist supporters, the discovery and destruction of 10 terrorist group hideouts and shelters, as well as the recovery of 97 firearms, 48 bombs of different types, and quantities of ammunition of various calibres.”
As part of fighting organized crime, “the various PNA units multiplied their efforts to counter the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, which led to the arrest of 2,621 drug traffickers and thwarting the introduction of 36.8 tonnes of processed cannabis coming from the borders with Morocco, while 631 kilograms of cocaine and 25 million psychotropic pills were seized,” said the press release.
“These qualitative operations led to the arrest of 13,722 individuals and the seizure of 681 firearms and 1,624 vehicles, as well as 5,090 jackhammers, 8,204 power generators, 220 metal detectors, 2 million litres of fuel, 193 tonnes of tobacco and 4,322 tonnes of food products intended for smuggling and speculation, during separate operations nationwide.”
“The PNA’s combined detachments arrested 29,587 illegal immigrants of different nationalities across the national territory,” added the same source.
