GENEVA- The secretary general of the Algerian ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Lounes Magramane, reiterated Tuesday in Geneva Algeria’s commitment to spare no effort to contribute to the preservation of international peace and security and the prevention of armed conflicts.
Speaking at a high-level conference on disarmament in Geneva, Magramane said Algeria, while fulfilling its responsibilities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, “is committed to spare no effort to contribute to the international efforts to maintain peace and security, and put an end to armed conflicts and hot spots which, unfortunately, continue to claim thousands of innocent lives.”
He reiterated Algeria’s call to all actors of the international Community to increase efforts to give greater prominence to the multilateral approach to managing international relations, in order to “overcome current tensions and promote peaceful, negotiated solutions to conflicts, rather than resorting to force,” citing the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Expressing Algerian delegation’s support to the New Agenda for Peace 2023 presented by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Magramane stressed the need to implement the recommendations of the Pact of the Future Summit, with regard to disarmament.
