
ALGIERS – Representing the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Bakhta Selma Mansouri, took part in the official festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Cape Verde, which took place Saturday in Praia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs said in a press release.
In this respect, the Secretary of State transmitted the wishes of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to his Cape Verdean counterpart, José Maria Neves, emphasizing that “Algeria is proud of its historical relations with Cape Verde, founded on solidarity and mutual support during the periods of liberation struggle, especially since the two countries celebrate their independence day on the same day, July 5, demonstrating the shared journey and common African destiny,” said the same source.
In a speech delivered on this occasion, the Cape Verdean president praised the “precious support” provided by Algeria to his country’s liberation process, congratulating himself on the fraternal relations linking the two peoples, according to the same source.
