Algeria, Portugal Sign Memorandum of Understanding

ALGIERS – A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Lisbon (Portugal) between the Algerian Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH), the Electricity and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) and the Portuguese Energy Services Regulatory Entity (ERSE), in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in energy regulation.

The signing ceremony of this MoU took place last Thursday, between the president of the ARH, Rachid Nadil, the president of the CREG, Wassila Betata Atimene and the president of the Board of Directors of ERSE, Pedro Verdelho, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy said in a press release.

This initiative is part of the work carried out under the aegis of the Mediterranean Energy Regulators Association (MEDREG), to which Algeria is fully committed as a founding member having served as vice-president and then president of this association at its beginnings and currently holds its vice-presidency for a second term, testifying to an active and constant commitment for nearly two decades in favor of regional cooperation in the field of energy regulation, added the press release.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Algerian Ambassador to Portugal, Saïd Moussi, whose participation “highlighted the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries as initiated by our two presidents, on the occasion of the State visit paid by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune in 2023 to the Portuguese Republic,” said the same source.
