Algeria Participates in 69th IAEA General Conference, Highlights Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation

Algeria is taking part in the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is being held from September 15 to 19 in Vienna, Austria, with a multisectoral delegation led by President of the National Nuclear Safety and Security Authority Rachedi Menadi, the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Lines said in a statement.
In a speech he delivered during the general debate, Menadi stressed “Algeria’s support for the IAEA efforts to strengthen developing countries’ access to peaceful uses of nuclear energy, particularly in the fields of health, agriculture, water resources and the environment,” the statement said.
The President of the ANSSN mentioned Algeria’s contribution, especially with regard to the implementation of the IAEA Director General’s Rays of Hope (RoH) initiative, through “the training of students and professionals from African countries in nuclear medicine, radiology and radiotherapy.”
At the scientific forum, themed “Atoms for Water,” Menadi highlighted “Algeria’s efforts to achieve water security, crowned this year with the commissioning of five new seawater desalination plants, as part of the implementation of the programme of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”
