Algeria: Health Minister joins WISH 2024 summit in Doha

DOHA – The Algerian Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, participated in the 7th edition of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH 2024), held in Doha, Qatar, said the ministry in a statement on Monday.

The summit, held on November 13 and 14, was organised under the theme “Humanising Health: Conflict, Equity, and Resilience.” In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), it focused on four key areas: the health of minorities and at-risk populations, health in conflict zones, innovation and transformation in healthcare systems, and community participation and interventions, the statement noted.

During the event, Minister Saihi discussed strategies with experts from several countries, including India, Qatar, and Finland, to strengthen healthcare systems for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. They also explored ways to enhance international cooperation for exchanging knowledge and medical innovations in prevention and treatment, while emphasising the need to improve national healthcare systems through preventive measures such as regular health screenings, community outreach, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

The conference gathered over 3,000 participants, including innovators, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world, with the aim of finding “innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing health challenges,” the statement concluded.
