Algeria Condemns Ongoing Violations by Zionist Occupation Forces

GENEVA, February 27, 2025 – Algeria has decisively denounced the serious and ongoing violations of international law carried out by Zionist occupation forces, calling on all nations and United Nations bodies to ensure accountability and justice.

In a statement made on Wednesday during a dialogue session with the High Commissioner for Human Rights about the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Al-Quds, Algeria’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, Rachid Bladehane, emphasized that Algeria “strongly condemns the grave and continuous violations of international law” by the Zionist occupation forces and by “settlers against the defenseless Palestinian people who have endured occupation for over 76 years.”

Bladehane expressed appreciation from the Algerian delegation for the High Commissioner’s report and acknowledged its findings. He reaffirmed that “attempts to equate the obligations and duties of the occupying power with those of the State of Palestine are unfounded and inconsistent with the requirements of international law. This is evident despite the report’s reference to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the occupation’s refusal to cooperate with the Office of the High Commissioner in investigating all violations, which negates international obligations and commitments.”

He continued, “After decades of systematic genocide, forced displacements, home demolitions, illegal settlement expansions, and the establishment of an apartheid system, the recent acts of genocide in Gaza represent an unprecedented crime against humanity worldwide, leading to catastrophic consequences that continue to impede the residents of Gaza from returning to a secure life.”

On this occasion, the Algerian diplomat reiterated Algeria’s commitment to “supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state based on recognized international principles.” He called for the occupying power to uphold the terms of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, enabling residents to return to their homes and facilitating the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Concluding his remarks, Algeria “urges all countries and UN bodies to ensure accountability and justice, as well as reparations for all violations of international law” perpetrated by the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people.
