32nd Algerian Production Fair Highlights Local Industry’s Growth and Export Potential

ALGIERS – The 32nd Algerian Production Fair (FPA), running from 19 to 28 December, showcases the rising success of Algerian businesses and their commitment to serving domestic markets while promoting economic diversity and reducing imports.

FPA’s 2024 edition shed light on the diversity and wealth of the Algerian industry while demonstrating the national companies’ willingness to corner a prominent place in the local and international markets, according to APS.

Among the several national companies that caught the visitors’ attention at the Fair, GITEX group, specialized in the textile and leather industry.

A diversified range is offered to the visitors, namely shoes, trainers, leather jackets, duvets, sheet, …etc.

“It is pleasant to notice that the Made in Algeria is gaining popularity despite the tough foreign product competition,” said Hadia Krimat.

Krimat, the group’s representative, said that local products “offer excellent value for money, meeting families’ expectations.”

The group also plans to open a new footwear and leather workshop for the general public starting in 2025, she revealed, underlining that currently “80% of the footwear sector is dedicated to supplying the People’s National Army.”

Another flagship of the national industry, the Public Economic Enterprise for bolt, cutlery and tap production (BCR) stands out with a wide range of stainless steel products. It notably offers luxury tableware, including stainless steel cutlery sets.”

 

The event also hosts high-performing companies specialized in manufacturing electrical equipment and accessories, like BMS Electric, whose products are certified by a renowned European laboratory.

“Our company has 260 different items in its catalogue,” says Selma Semsum, sales manager of this 20-year-old company.

She also pointed out the company’s contribution to national economic diversification by exporting to 11 African countries.

Hidouche Machinery, founded in 2021 and located in Rouiba, also made a strong impression with its industrial equipment for the food processing, cosmetic, parapharmaceutical and petrochemical sectors.

“Our products, 100% made in Algeria, are intended for the national market, as well as international markets, particularly Ivory Coast and Senegal,” he said.

Another exhibitor at the fair, EPMC company, a subsidiary of the Divindus group, presented its expertise in producing polystyrene chalets, manufactured at its Ouargla unit.
