Double Anniversary of February 24: President Tebboune Highlights Algeria’s Achievements Across Various Sectors

ORAN, Feb 24, 2026 – The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Tuesday highlighted the achievements accomplished by Algeria in recent years across various fields, as part of the implementation of economic and social policies whose results, he said, are increasingly visible throughout the country. He also expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm shown by the Algerian people for newly launched projects.

In a message marking the 70th anniversary of the creation of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) and the 55th anniversary of the nationalization of hydrocarbons, read by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb during the ceremony held in Oran, the President expressed his “deep appreciation to all the women and men engaged in the realization of major projects.”

He stated that projects completed in recent years, those nearing completion, and those scheduled for imminent launch confirm confidence in Algeria’s chosen path. These achievements, he added, reflect the implementation of economic and social policies whose impact is visible across the country.

President Tebboune voiced satisfaction at the public’s enthusiasm during the inauguration of the Western mining railway line, noting that this and other structuring projects at both local and national levels demonstrate that current national policies are based on efficiency, realism, and sound sovereign decision-making.

He described this approach as expressing the doctrine of a “new and victorious Algeria,” closely linked to the legacy of the November Revolution and pragmatic in building partnerships across continents based on mutual interests.

Regarding the nationalization of hydrocarbons, Tebboune underscored the importance of this historic sovereign decision, noting that thanks to the expertise and dedication of workers in the energy sector, Algeria has doubled its commercial energy production.

“Today, we are the seventh largest gas exporter in the world and the third supplier to the European market, and we hold the third-largest oil reserves in Africa,” he said.

The President praised the mobilization and commitment of executives and workers, emphasizing the importance of promoting effort and work as drivers of sustainable development and encouraging young people to pursue technical excellence and technological mastery.

He concluded by renewing his greetings to all workers on the anniversary of the UGTA’s creation and to all leaders and employees in the hydrocarbons sector, who continue the path set by their predecessors following the nationalization decision.
